Fast and easy payments
A PayID® is an easy-to-remember piece of information, such as a mobile number, email address, ABN, or Organisation Identifier, that’s linked to a bank account. It makes sending and receiving money through online banking fast and easy.
Pay with more confidence
The best part about paying to a PayID is that you’ll be shown the name linked to the PayID before you hit send, helping protect you from fraud, scams, and mistaken payments.
Some businesses may provide you with a unique email PayID to use when making a payment. This works the same way as paying to any other PayID.
Be scam aware
Stop and check
When using PayID, stop and check you're paying the right person or business before you hit send.
You should also remember:
- PayID will never contact you directly. Not ever.
- Emails or text messages claiming to be from PayID are a scam.
- PayID will never ask you to send money to receive money or ask you to ‘upgrade your account’.
Scrambling
‘Scambling’ is slang for illegal online gambling platforms advertised on social media and messaging apps that trick people to visit a scam website to participate in gambling.
You should also remember:
- Be aware of illegal online gambling scams.
- If you are being asked to transfer money via PayID on illegal gambling sites, this is a scam.
- You cannot win money from these sites, or get your money back if you have been ’scambled.
If you believe you have been scammed, please contact your financial institution.
